Hey, ive been trying to get my 3000+ up to 2.6GHz for about a week, and so far ive had no success. it will fail prime95 after about 2 hours. i know its not the ram, and almost positive its not the mobo. ive read the k8n neo2 is rock solid for 300+htt. my temps arent bad, 55C TOPS. ive come to the conclusion that either a) the processor just wont get up to 2.6GHz b) i need more vcore. the max ive tried it with is about 1.56v, figured it wouldnt need any more then that to get 2.6GHz. was i wrong? what else could be hindering me? it wont pass prime95 at 280htt either (2.52GHz).
thanks a ton, i think ive almost got my system finialized :D

NOT!!!! Go to 1.6v max....If it needs one more notch to gain stability do it!!! On ething at these speeds and vcore already being used it wont garner much more with each vcore boost...

well, i mean duvie...you are at 2.6GHz, same mobo, same proc...with 1.47v. u really think 1.6v could stablize it and be SAFE? ill try running prime95 tonight. btw, to reach 2.61GHz i need to run at 290htt. the highest stable ive been able to reach so far is 1.43GHz. i would think that upping the chipset voltage would help, but my mobo dosnt have an option to so...
wish me luck :p,

Hows the voltages on that antec 430??? How does the +12v rail look?? Idle and under load....There have been known issues with this board and antec true power psu's....

I dont know on your status, but my chip did not need a lick of vcore over stock until 2.5ghz...then in the next 100mhz needed .07 and in the next 100mhz needs .15v...that is th eway they go when they hit their limit.....Yours may need 1.5v just to do 2.5ghz and that means 2.6ghz may need a whopping 1.65v...I wouldn't do that....

Trying raising agp to 1.6v...sometimes when they dont have chipset vcore setting raising agp helps..some boards (p4's) the vagp controlled the chipset vcore....

I am still concerned about the power...

My voltage under FH load right now while I am surfing and doing some CAD work is

+3.3v = 3.38v
+5v = 5.12v
+12v = 12.02v

at idle my +12v goes to 12.12-12.14v

So I have little drop under loading conditions and I stay above 12v. All other raisl are tight and above their respected rails...How is yours!!! I imagine when you run that vid card and maybe burn a DVD or so that +12v may take a bigger dip then normal, right???

wow ive never heard of issues with the truepower...its been great so far :S:S. i dont really have a way to test the voltages, i mean...trust corecenter??!?! LOL...anyway, heres what corecenter says:
vcore=1.62
memory=2.85
+3.3v=3.25
+5v=4.89
12v=11.78
these are while im running prime95
i dont really want to raise my agp, because i have a $300 videocard in there and i want it to last a while lol. im not obsessed with getting 2.6GHz, but i want to if possible. 2.43 has been my sweet spot so far.
thanks for the help, lets see what happens with this prime test @ 1.62vcore...i doubt it will pass
nick

another thing, my temps arent exactly great running at these voltages...im getting 55C load, and thats only because i set the bios to spin the fan up at that temp. thats with stock cooling+AS5

By theway that +12v rail is weak...Even under prime95 my vcore stays right at 12v...does not dip down to 11.78v...Try looping 3dmark or a graphics app that you can window done so you can watch volatges and that rail can droop even more...

You say your HTT is at 300? The CPU memory controller may be bottlenecking you. There are several out there who say that week 45+ is your best bet to get good memory controllers on the Winchester.

its a brand new winnie from newegg, just got it for christmas. it should be over week 45. how can i see what week it is, without taking off the hsf :p thx. and duvie, i found this link: http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=242.
they reviewed the 430w antec, and they said that "The test results completely support Antec's claims. Variances in loads are well within the 430's specified output tolerances (±3%)." notice how the 12v rail actually INCREASES when you put a load on it, good psu *thumbsup*. so that rules that out. the problems you mentioned were "false start" problems, some peoples systems wouldnt start up with an antec psu, for some reason. havent had that problem at all.
thanks guys, im not sure what to do about getting my processor higher clocked...im not going to pump 1.62 volts into my processor. are processors able to get to higher frequencies at lower tempatures? aka, if i get a new heatsink could i OC higher or would it just lower my temps?
thanks a ton guys, i feel like a n00b

Never ever trust a software voltage reading. Go out to Radio Shack or any hardware store and get a cheap digital multimeter and check your voltages that way. Also, try lowering the HT multiplier a notch or two if you haven't.

im not worried about voltages much. i totally agree with you on the subject of software voltage reading; ive seen sites that used a multimeter/psu tester on the antec 430w and it was still dead on, if not moreso. my ht multi should be good, its at 3x290=870.
