i have just installed winmx, and i cant get it to download at anykind of a desent rate. I'm used to kazaa and downloading multiple files at a combined rate of 200kbs and up. I cant break over 30kbs on winmx. I would appreciate any help.

What connection do you have? Try pinging the results and get from anyone with the lowest ping possible or t1 or t3.
