I've had Winme since the day it came out and havn't had any troubles, but now if I go to Start-shutdown...and try that the computer wants to restart...and it does the same thing if I try to restart it...and it doesn't even restart...it just sits there with a black screen. So to shut the computer off I have to turn the UPS off, and If I want to restart I have to hit the reset button....Any help appreciated.

What was the last driver that you upgraded? I would look to that as the issue!! I have a Me system that functioned fine until I installed the latest update to NAV and then I hed to reload..

I had a similar problem with my mchine until I switched over to Win2K. I could restart, but not shut down. I had the same mobo and Win ME. I tracked the problem back to a compatibility issue betwen my ATI Radeon and SBLive! Sound card. Neither vendor was any help and the tech support was awful. I actually found a few fixes on the forums here, but none of them worked. I have heard that Win ME has the same shutdown issues that Win 98 had, and that it is usually a device driver causing the problem. Check on the Microsoft Support Website for shutdown troubleshooting. It may help you better than it helped me. I wasn't about to give up either of my cards, so I ditched the OS. no more problems! I love Win2K!

I installed a NIC, and I don't remember if I started having problems right after that or not, but I never had much success networking 2 ME computers together, was real slow...its probably because I don't know much about networking...but thats another story.

Try to check at Microsoft update if there is a fix for it. I remember 98 SE having a similar issue which could be fixed by updating.
