WinME & WinXP dual boot want to remove ME

I am dual booting Win_Me & XP. I am thinking about removing Me and using XP only. My hard drive is partitioned with Win_Me on the primary partition "C" and XP on a logical partition "D". I would like to know how to, if possible, remove ME without reformating the whole hard drive. I would like to switch Win_XP to the "C" partition then combine the two partitions into one. I have Partition Magic 6.0 that I used to create the partitions. Can this be done? Can I move Win_Xp to the "C" partition after removing Win_Me and still get it to boot? Can I maybe reformat just the "C" partition then install XP on it and move files over from the "D" partition?
Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks 🙂

Search the root of the first drive for a file called "BOOT.INI". Edit it using notepad or something. (make a copy before you do this).. Edit out the entries for "Microsoft Windows" (or Windows ME, depending on which order you installed WinXp/WinME)..

Get it to boot XP alone before you do the next step.. which is deleting everything from the C:\WINDOWS directory.

After that, use PM 6.0 to merge partitions..which will create everything as a C drive. Therefore, you have one partition, and everything moves to your C drive..
