WinMe: Upgrade vs Fresh Install

I am thinking of moving from good ol' Win 98 to ME. Obviously a fresh install would be better, but i would prefer to do the 'upgrade' if it isnt going to cause me a world of pain.

Many people have good/bad experiences upgrading?

ME and Unreal Tourny, have problems, u get blue screens, even office 97 crashes always....i am going back to 98, any suggestions why not?

If you really want to install winme. Go fresh install.
But I suggest that you stick with 98se.

Stay with Win98 or 98SE for a while.
There are some problem report with winME.
I am sure It will be better later.
Until then, stay with 98s.

I have ME on fresh install. It is sweet & more stable (for me) than SE was. Have CUSL2 (815e) which has native driver sppt in ME for 815e. ME has some interface features from W2K, which I like (dual-boot w/ W2K).

But I know plenty ppl who have trouble w/ ME.

I installed it as an upgrade, seemed to work fine... then I rebooted the machine... never saw so many blue screens in my life.

I then did a fresh install, and all is well. Can't say I like it much better than 98, but being on dialup, a fresh install doesn't mean two hours of patches, service packs etc.

I did a fresh install and everything turned out OK, I only needed new drivers for my scanner and everything then worked out

I've done it a few different ways.On a computer with 98 already installed upgrading caused some problems, but that computer was due for a format anyways. With a format the upgrade from 98 to Millenium went fine.

For me at least,Millenium is much more stable, even compared to a fresh install of 98.
