WinMe to 2000Pro upgrade?

I've got Me installed and I've got a 2000Pro upgrade disk. Should I upgrade or is there a way to do a clean install with the upgrade disk? I don't want to dual boot. I've got a 3gb primary partition on my 30gb maxtor, the rest is apps and data. When I put the disk in it says an older version of windows is installed and asks if I want to upgrade, but 2000 is the older version. Does it think I've got 98 installed?

Thanks much

Format the primary partition that you want win2k to be on. restart and boot from the win2k cd then select install win2k, Win2k will now ask for a win95 or 98 or NT 4.0 cd for upgrade verification. replace win2k cd with win98 cd and hit enter. After cd verification is done you select the partition you want win2k to install on, you can have the partition reformated to ntfs at this time also. Win2k will now pompt you to replace the win98 cd with the win2k cd again and it will install from there.

Raincity is correct, I'd only add two things.

Before you install use fdisk to remove and re-install the partition. This will force 2K to prompt "Damaged or unformatted, do you wish to format?" - you can format with NTFS.

The upgrade of Win2K doesn NOT work with ME, you'll need one of the disks RainCity mentioned.
