WinME Startup Problem

For some reason, when Windows starts up, only about half of my startup programs load. For example, I get the display resolution icon but no volume icon in the system tray. I also have some other small programs (clipboard manager, network monitor, etc...) and some load while the others don't. I also notice that I can no longer print any document which is not strictly text. Everything else seems to work fine, so I don't know what it could be. I checked the bootlog and no problems there.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or could offer my any advice before I give up and reformat?

When was the last time you ran a full Virus Scan? Barring corrupted files/hard drive failure, your symptoms sound like the effects of a virus...

I run full scans weekly with no problems ever. Just ran it again with nothing found. I seem to remember this happening before with a different hard drive, so I doubt there is something physiscally wrong with it.
