starting from yesterday, every time I shutdown my winme, it closes windows then I get the blue screen saying there's a windows protection error, please shut down the pc.

But when I startup again, it works fine. But still, every time i shutdown, i get that msg.

help?

Try this, it sometimes works:

If you have an ACPI system board, which I am pretty sure you will, go to Control Panel/System and then remove it from the device listing. Reboot, and see how it goes. Also try the same with your video card.

If you're using the nVidia Det 3 drvs (6.18)these seem to be a leading cause of this behaviour. I don't have a cure, I think the drivers speed makes up for this "quirk", hopefully the next version (6.20?) will fix this.

ahh... i see i guess it is the drivers. i have been getting this ever sincei installed them too. i think i'll just go back to the older drivers till a newer version comes out.
