WinME restore functions. Can it be disabled?

Hi! I would really like to know if there is a way to safely delete and disable the safe restore functions of WindowsME to get back some of that precious HD space. If so, how?

I find it rather amusing that just about everyone who installs ME turns of this feature. Isn't it one of the biggest selling points of this OS?
 
You can disable it through the System Properties. Since I'm not on my computer right now, I can't tell you exactly how to do it, but here's a simple outline. Open up System Properties (right-click on MyComputer, then 'properties'), then on one of the tabs there's a bunch of checkboxes. The last check box will disable System Restore.

Personally, I wouldn't disable it altogether. You have the ability to lessen the amount of disk space, and modify the frequency of saved restore points via the System Properties tabs also. I set mine to the minimum of 200MB.

Yes, it can be disabled, but why? It is worth every bit of disk space. Get yourself a bigger HDD . . . minimum 20GB.
 
I turned it off too. Main reason was cause i didn't want Restore's monitoring programs to sap my resources. Anything for a higher keyrate.


By the way, RESTORE still has alot of bugs. I tried it out before when i deleted some items, changed some settings, and then tried to restore to a point saved sometime ago. No luck, when it completed, the deleted items were still gone, the settings were still messed up.
