WinMe does not detect HD.

I installed new HD (Maxtor Diamond Plus 60)40GB ATA 100. BIOS detects it just fine but WinMe does not see it. I used MaxBlaster to format and it saw it too. What am I doing wrong here? Any suggestion. Maxtor tech support suggested putting on separate IDE change, is it required to make it work?
