Hi,
I have two annoying problems in Windows Me with my hard drive. Help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
1- In my Device Manager (in system Properties) my Maxtor DiamondMax hard drive is labelled
"Generic IDE Disk Type 47". I can't seem to change it, is that normal or should it be written Maxtor Diamond Max?
2- When I check DMA in my Hard drive settings, the transfer rate is without a doubt faster. The problem is that when it is enabled (DMA) in games like NFS: Porsche Unleashed and Half Life: Counter Strike I experience small constant jerks every 4 seconds. It feels like my hard drive is loading something small to cause a small stop. Very annoying.
Any input of this is appreciated. Thanks...
My computer,
PIII-800Mhz
Asus Cusl2 (Intel 815)
Guillemot Prophet II 64 DDR (Geforce2)
Sound Blaster Live!
Pioneer DVD-Rom
WinME
etc...
