Just received this message on w Windows 2000 pro machine before the logon windows comes up. The message comes in front of logon windows and all the text on the logon windows seems to be scrambled, and it?s just some characters on top of each other.
The message comes out of the blue; nothing had been added or changed.

SAS windows winlogon.exe - Application Error

The instruction at 0x008f288 referenced memory 0x00000001.
Memory could not be written.
Click OK to terminate the application
Click Cancel to debug.

When you hit OK the system restarts
When you hit Cancel it tries to write some dump info and than restarts

I have tried to repair installation and that did not work, I have also tried to copy the winlogon.exe file from other machine (in recovery console) but that did not help neither.

Any ides as how to fix it without rebuilding the machine?
