WinFAX over LAN

I've used WinFAX on a single machine but never had the chance to implement this over a network b4. I want to setup a fax server that will handle all incoming faxes and direct them to the appropriate user's in-box..and also our users should be able to fax from their desktop w/out having to get up and walk to the fax machine.

Our network is composed of one Win2K Server (used only as a file server and for user authentication) and all the workstations are comprised of Win2k Pro and WinXP Pro.

Sooo here are my questions:

1) Is WInFAX the right software for this project..or is there a more robus/afforable software solution out there?
2) Is Exchange required for this mini poject?

There used to be a bunch of network "fax server" programs, not sure which if any are still around. You might go to Symantec's website and see whether they have an enterprise version for serving.

Software602 has a LanSuite product that handles network faxing (both in and out). It may be overkill for what you're wanting as it also has SMTP/POP support, shared address book, proxy server, shared internet server, IP filter, and DHCP. The 5-user version is free. I've been using it at home and it works very well and is basically invisible... in my opinion, that's very good.
