I recently picked up a Leadtek 2000XP TV tuner/capture card.
I can watch/listen to TV just fine but when I record I get no sound at all in the resulting file.
LEadtek's support simply doesn't exsist, so I'm hoping that somebody has some help/suggestions.

Thanks.

You could try another recording software like gbpvr. It's free, and if you still need support the forums over there are very active.

true
but I'm thinking it something in my settings or SOMETHING
no reason why the bundled stuff with the card shouldnt work

It seems the problem stems from my "CD Player" not being available in the list of recording devices.
As shown here: http://www.leadtek.com.tw/eng/support/faq/DTV2000H2.JPG the recording device has to be CD Player, but I don't have that option at all.
What makes no sense is the sound is perfectly fine when watching live TV, just not recording....
UGH

Depending on where you live you may have problems accessing tv listings for the free PVR's starting 9/1 when Zap2it stops allowing people to access them from their site.

Everything is over pci (no audio line from card to system)? Line-in or other "in" lines not muted?

you connect the card to the MB's CD sound headers
nothing is muted, as I can hear the sound just fine when watching TV. It's SOLELY while recording.

On the link I showed above, that drop down should clearly have a "CD PLAYER" option. and mine does not.

From this link: http://www.vectormediasoftware.com/vistarecording.html
You can see how Vista apparently likes to hide some recording devices. I do NOT have "CD" listed in this window as I know I should for the option mentioned above to be available. So... hopefully once I get home I can activate that recording device and it SHOULD then show up in the PVR utility... god willing/
