System specs:

Abit KR-7A
XP 1800+
GF 4 TI 4400
SB Live Value
USB DSL Modem
CD-Rom drive
CD-RW
Maxtor 7200 rpm 30 gb hd
Maxtor 5400 rpm 20 gb hd

Today I reformatted and repartitioned the 30 gb hd

I made C:/ a 5 gb Fat32 partition
E:/ 5 gb NFTS partition
F:/ 20 GB FAT32 partition

AFter I got done I installed WinME to the C:/ and XP Pro to the NFTS drive

I was moving stuff from the D:/ (20 gb drive) to the others with no problem. I installed SP1 to my XP install then when I tried going to the D:/ it would take about 10 seconds for anything to come up. Later I installed my AV and after that it would just hang my computer if I tried reading the D:/ The strange thing is all my mp3 files are on the D:/ and when I run winamp it can browse that drive just fine and play mp3s from it just fine.

BTW, I can read the D: just fine under WinME.
Anyone have any suggestions besides getting rid of SP1?

This happened to me previously, only that time I had no idea why it happened.

For the XP, we did a System Restore after installing SP1. It still had all the SP1 patches, but whatever went SNAFU went away.

Interesting that WinME can read the NFTS partition if I read you right.
