Drink white wine then. AT really does not need another "I puked red wine all over xxx's white carpet."

There's a GREAT wine from Bogle Vineyards that can be found for $9.99.
Super drinkability.

Oh yeah, I think I've had turning leaf before. Good suggestion - hopefully I can find it at a reasonable price.

What's a good merlot thats under 10$ in the pacific northwest?

Under $10 for good merlot isn't happening, heck, you'd be lucky to get a bottle of merlot for that price which doesn't absolutely suck. If that's your price range, get a bottle of Barbera d'Asti instead. It should be near the Italian wines. The taste will be far better bang for your buck than merlot would be at that price range.

Bah, you snob. Look for a bottle of Bogle merlot. You'll be surprised.

And before you find fault in my tastes, try it.

It doesn't, however, beat out Chateau St. Michell Canoe Ridge or Trefethen though.

Not a snob, just realistic. A $10 price range means he has to look for a bottle that's like 9 bucks before taxes. The sweet spot for merlot is about $15-20, at that price point plenty of good ones are available, even some mainstream Oregon wineries, not just stuff which should have gone into a cardboard box.

If you just want to get drunk, why are you wasting your money on wine?
Get a fifth of cheap rum and a 2-liter of coke.

Also, for the wine snobs out there, can you recommend one around 15-20 or so thats good?

If you like Chardonnays, you can't beat Frog's Leap in that range.

Well, different types of alcohols create different types of drunkenness. Right now I want the red wine type drunkenness as opposed to the hard a drunkenness or the beer drunkenness.

Merlot's the one variety I can't stand...in reds, I love Pinot Noir.

WTF?
You're already drunken. Or cracken.
Drunk is drunk.
The alcohol is the same no matter what it comes in.

Fleur du Cap ...south african merlot. It'a what God drinks when he's thirsty ! I don't know the price in the US but if it's $16 here in Canada it must be around $10 US.
BTW...price is not necessarily an indicator of good wine. I've had some real swill @ $30 /bottle and some other really good wines @ $12/ bottle Figure $10 should be a minimum though..of course there's always Ripple and Thunderbird.........;)

well, if you just want a red wine, i always try to stay away from merlot (that's just me)... good cheap bottle of pinot noir was the Pepper Wood Grove pinot (98.. dunno if you'll find anymore around for the cheapo price -- 99 was horrific)... it was $7.99 a bottle if i remember correctly

heck, if you just want to get drunk, go get a box of Peter Veila's Delicious Red... 5 Liters for ~$12... c'mon now... or better yet, get the Chablis box and toss it in with some OJ... cheap, non-champagne mimosas.. chicks dig it... (did i just say that? :Q )
