wine is a program that apparently allows you to run win applications inside linux.
at download site my

offerings are 1386, i686, and athlon.rpm's

my first instinct was athlon since I have an amd chip but every rpm I have downloaded so far has been 1 386
fedora core 3 is os.
so thought I would ask first

Went with athalon rpm.
installed fine but then I discovered like most linux apps was a ton of configuration required...so tried winetools for help.
should have got that first as It hadn't been tested on my version of wine yet.
but seems to have still worked anyway.
winetools is an excellent utility. you don't have to jump up and down , hold your breath and repeat theres no place like home..theres no place like home...to get it to function right.
installed starcraft for fun and it ran fine a little qwirky on the minimap but other then that fine.
