2003 McManis Viognier.

White wine that's somewhere between a Chard and a Sauv Blanc and slightly on the sweet side. Shouldn't run you more than $8.50-$10.00 Would go well with asian foods that aren't uber-spicy. :)

Very helpful- thank you. I love white wine, especially at those prices. Now I just need to see if the local stores carry it.

The Delicato syrah box is REALLY good... it's run awards 3 years in a row. I was ecstatically impressed, for the price, I doubt you can beat it.

The box is 3 liters (4 bottles) for $13-$18... !!!
If you've never tried these boxes before they're really pretty cool.. They're pretty air-tight so wine stays fresh for 45 days or more...

How is the afterbite of the wine? Does it end smooth, or have a sharp twang when swallowed?

Edit: i guess at 10$ a bottle, i could try it myself :/

2002 Borsao. It is a spanish red table wine, runs about $8 and is extremely tasty. Has some hints of spicy but is amazingly smooth for being as strong bodied as it is. In my opinion, it is one of my favorite wines even when put on the same table as Opus One and some of the crazy priced French wines my father-in-law likes.

None of your elitist wine snobbery. Australia sells more than half it's wine in a box (granted aussies are wierd) and boxes are pretty popular in Europe...

From a technical standpoint bottles, though attractive, are outdated.

:p

I've never liked white wine. I think I get it from my dad. We never had a white wine in the house.

Anyway, try the Yellow Tail Shiraz or Cab, or Cab-Shiraz. Excellent table wines and they're very cheap. They're Australian and some of my favorite wines.

It's a very well-balanced wine for the price, which is why I'm pimping it. ;)

If you like the yellow-tail, I REALLY reccomend the Delicato... it IS available in the bottle, if you just want to try it before buying such a large quantity.

I'll pick some up, I'm not a white drinker, but my mother-in-law is and she'll be over for X-mas...

Was that the decision, I heard a little bit of it but didn't realize they'd reached a verdict.

Snobbery? I don't drink the stuff, boxed or otherwise. In Soviet Russia, vodka toasts with YOU.

I'll see if I can't find a bottle around here. Any particular year, or does it matter?

Any suggestions on a pair of white and red wine that would go with a 10 course chinese dinner? A majority of the dishes would be seafood but there are 1-2 meat dishes I believe ... TIA! :)
