i use both, i'm a software whore

windvd is better for video/audio quality.. thats why it takes a small cpu hit, not that it matters on current systems(btw video quality is affected by videocard, get an radeon for good stuff, geforce for somewhat less so). windvd also decodes the subwoofer channel

very good if you have klipsch or something. I only use powerdvd for watching things at high speed while reading subtitles since windvd doesn't display em at multispeed
