when I enable hardware motion compensation in WinDVD 4.5 platinum I get artifacts around the subtitles.
they're like blocks of a random color around the text.

can anyone help ?

also,

Is the adaptive deintelacing activated when HWMC is eabled ?
what tools/registry mods do I need to use my card's full DVD potential ?

This will not help your problem but a question.

Why are you using WinDVD over Ati's? And all I have is problems with WinDVD Platinum with my Geforce III. So bad so that I have sworn to never use it again.

Are you doing the soft9700 mod?

I had to disable hardware acceleration in order to play DVDs after doing the mod.

I don't use ati's dvd program as well cause...hmmm...it sucks!!! Windvd fully blows it away in terms of all the features. I use to have stuttering with atis dvd 7.6 but it didn't stutter with windvd and WMP...I fixed it ofcourse with reinstall and updated drivers but the time I played with the windvd I realized it isn't even a comparison...
