Windshield replacement?

Today a deer decided to pay tribute to the recently-departed Evil Knievel by attempting to jump my car. It was not entirely successful and it trashed the windshield of my 2000 Honda Accord, though the car seems to be otherwise intact. The deer kept going - not sure what kind of injuries it received. I talked to my insurance company and found that the deductible is $250. But, I've heard that some auto glass places will somehow give you a discount on the deductible. Anyone have any thoughts about the best way to proceed, or recommendations for auto glass companies in the Pittsburgh area? Thanks.

Not sure what it'll cost on your car but I'm getting my windshield replaced on mine for about $215 (not deer related, other damage). This is through safelite auto glass.

When I had mine replaced the glass place didn't collect my $50 deductible and charged Allstate $314.
They advised me to wait until the next day to pick up my car in order to avoid driving it before the sealant dried completely.

Lots of glass companies advertise that they can get by your deductible.

And yes, it's very advisable to wait until the urethane is dry before driving, although lots of folks don't.

I'm getting my windshield replaced for the same price on my Mazda Tribute (also not deer-related). I'm not even bothering with insurance since it's so cheap. Shopping around definitely pays off. My first quote was $335.

Lots of insurance companies will replace windshield's with NO deductible. You may ant to see if yours is one of them because they wont want to tell you that upfront if all you did was call and ask what your deductible was, or ask if it is covered under a different, small text clause. You know, they cant be letting everyone know that if they have a small rock chip, crack or what ever they will cover it for free, or it will start costing them money ;)

If you have collision or comprehensive coverage, then odds are you have glass coverage as well. Glass coverage doesn't have a deductible and my agent told me these claims don't go against your record. Call your insurance agent-odds are your insurer will set up the glass company to come out to your home/place of business and replace the glass there.

Did you report the accident to the police? Some insurers require it.
