Windshield manufacturer quality

Hmm, never thought of it that way - typically I find the least expensive and say 'gimme windshield', or some variation of the above. 😛 If you're in the northeast, I've had good luck with Portland Glass.

I'm pretty sure whoever manufactures them has to meet a certain level of safety requirements. Unless you're going with OEM, anything else should be equal, your insurance would probably know best. Often times, your insurance policy would cover free windshield replacement, I'd check there first.

no free windshield for me. they do cover chip repairs but if you need a whole new windshield you have to pay the deductible.

PPG, Carlite, or LOF glass is good stuff. I've tried the cheaper stuff before and it pits easier than the three I mentioned.

Personally, unless it was a beater/economy car I'd go OEM.

I've always 'noticed' non-oem glass.. Either the tint at the top is missing/added/different, the logo is obvious and ugly, the mirror pad is different, it's just always *something*...

Although I can't really comment on the durability, but yeah.

Mine does. Had my MS6 windshield replaced this past Tuesday, free through my AAA insurance. Heck, didn't even know about it except for I was talking to my agent on Monday and saw it on my policy.
