windowx xp...problems with IE 6

whenever i open Internet Explorer 6, click in thhe address bar to type, and press the first letter to start typing, IE freezes and asks me to send an error report to microsoft. This is very annoying...does anyone have a solution. thx

Try installing a new copy of IE6 over it (go to www.microsoft.com/downloads). it might help.

actually the Os won't allow that.
you'll need to try to repair IE by typing "scf/runonce" at the cmd prompt!

ok i did what u guys said and went into a command prompt in the ie folder and typed sfc/runonce and went thru the whole scan...etc....and ie still freezes when i type in the address bar. i just realized that it's not just IE having the problem, but it's everything on the computer that has an adress bar (windows explorer, ie, my documents, etc.). Now, after i reboot the computer, they work fine for a fixed time, then they will start having this problem again. i know it seems really weird but any help wouldbe appreciated.
