Hey all.. Just wondering if anyone else has run across this problem with XP final corporate and if they had any ideas
Here goes.. I'm running XP with 384mb pc133 Micron on Abit be62 with pent3 700@933.. I had no problems in win2k so i dont think its my hardware
What happens is: OS runs great and fast, after boot i'm using about 130-150mb ram (thats with a few humdrum programs running like mirc, software firewall, icq, etc. NO virus scans going) anyway, all is well and good until i go into my DIVX folder and check the status of my downloading DIVX's(I only download divx's for which i own a legal copy🙂 ) Anyhoo, if i TRY to check the properties of a DIVX file my computer will start to bog down bigtime. I checked my ram usage and it went from like 160mb to 370!!! and it takes forever for properties to show up( i was just trying to see the mb).... Anyway, I seem to have narrowed it down to Windows Media Player but I'm not sure.. For some reason, it seems windows med player tries to do SOMETHING with the file (not open it) becuase if i change the file associations to say, Music Match, I dont get the same problem..
My question is, should I just disable WMP and use something like "the playa" or is there a workaround?? Cuz I really like the WMP interface for DIVX viewing(the cool little console that appears and dissappears without having to leave full screen is nice🙂
any ideas??
