My decade-old brand-name Toshiba 4x CDROM drive is able to read both data and audio CDs.
My newer no-name 36x CDROM drive is able to read audio CDs, but not data CDs.
My newest Samsung 48x CDROM drive is able to read audio CDs, but not data CDs.
Suggestions on how to get the newer drives to work?
[*]Do you think this could be because I don't have drivers specific to the CDROM drive that I'm using? (I thought that the standard Windows XP CDROM drivers would work and don't even know if I have specific drivers).
[*]I tried the Windows Hardware Troubleshooter and it was unable to resolve my problem. It suggested that the CD drives might be broken. From your experience, is this behaviour consistent with a broken CD drive?
