Windows7 losing internet when sleeping

I had issues with my new copy of Win7 Pro 64 losing its internet connection when going into sleep mode. i would have to repair the connection whenever i woke up the computer. This was for an onboard NIC, not a wireless connection.

Fix is to go into the device manager in control panels and right click on the Network adapter, then select the power tab. Turn off the option that allows Windows to turn off the adapter to save energy. i appreciate MSFT's attempts to save electrcity, but I'll leave my NIC going for now.

Hope this helps someone else

Thanks. It will definitely help me, as i am dealing with a few issues concerning my gateway lt3103, its atheros card, and my fios router. So, this may also have a hint to it that I need to check into. sometimes it wakes and does fine, but sometimes it doesnt. However, i can be using my computer and all of a sudden the wireless just drops out. its probably my fios, but my toshiba doesnt have this problem and its got a realtek card in it... kinda weird..

This setting can help too.
