Windows7 folder creation issue

Just this morning, Win7 64 has started a new behavior when I create folders using the Windows Explorer. It won't let me name them! I've always been able to just create the folder and name it whatever I want.

Now it errors out saying it cannot find the item. "This is no longer located in C:\users\ bla bla blah. Verify the item's location and try again"

I can hit the 'try again' button and voila - I can name the file as before. I restarted the desktop, thinking it was a temp glitch but no, it does it all the time now, and no matter where I try to create the folder.

Suggestions appreciated.

No help on this one? I did a series of Windows updates/patches yesterday - for the first time, I let it update as it see fit. Now I wish I hadn't because I don't have ANY IDEA which of these updates caused the problem.

I have this problem too. It seems like I create a folder, then Win Explorer freezes for a while and I no longer have the ability to enter the name. If I create folder then start typing like I used to, it makes the selection jump to the folders starting with the keys I press. Then I have to go and find the damn New Folder (8) and rename it after the fact.

OPen Explorer to the desired location, click on the NEW FOLDER button, snd make sure to are in the right pew - then type in the name (it is auto highlighted) and press the SAVE button. You can immediately verify.
