I have a client laptop that I want to completely nuke the drive and install Windows 2000 pro into. Easy right? This laptop doesnt have a CDROM drive, only a floppy drive. But, it is connected to my in house LAN. I can get it to see one of my other computers CDROM drive, but Im not quite sure how to install an OS over a networked drive...

Has anyone done this? If so could you please help me here?
Many Thanks in advance for any help.

If you can see the networked computer's drive, then you can try copying the files over to the local drive and then running setup from there. Hope this helps.

Exactly as ojai said. Create a shared directory on C: that contains the Win2K installation. From there, create an MS-DOS boot disk that contains the necessary drivers and whatnot to allow use of the NIC. Add to the autoexec.bat file a line to create another drive that points to the shared folder.

(i.e. NET USE <drive letter of your choice that's not taken and not C:> \\<your computer name>\<shared folder name>)

You'll then change to that drive letter once the boot from the floppy has completed and run Setup from the chosen drive letter.
