Was in win10 for a friday gaming session.
I know I have set updates to "notify me".
I go away for ½ an hour and come back to the blue screen "Windows is updating"
- Thing is, this thing is stuck .. at ~20% .. 3 minutes later 21% (i am running 840 evo 1TB on this part.).
SO paranoia sets in .. crypto-ransom-im-gonna-rape-you.exe MUST be in the process of owning me.
Pull the cord.
Back into safe heaven(Linux), do some reading .. this was problary just the anniversary update.
Have a look on the disc, all seems good.
Boot back into windows, windows auto restores "previous version of windows" for me blabla whatever, all good.
Now I hit the eventviewer to get a feel for what the beep is going on and i pick this up (alongside windowsupdate for candy saga crush updates ... wtf???) :
---
The kernel power manager has initiated a shutdown transition.

Shutdown Reason: Kernel API
---
So I guess the ah heck decided to restart on me - despite the fact that ive instructed it explicitly NOT to.

It didnt help that i am running it english only, my native language pack is not installed, yet still, the update screen prompted me in danish. Full Onset Paranoia.

Thanks microsoft.

Windows reboots during the anniversary update. It sounds like you would be better off setting Windows Update on to a specific day rather than a certain amount of inactivity.

And personally, I think you are lucky that Windows recovered as well as it did after pulling the plug during a build update.
