Windows10 bootloop problem ?

My pc will not boot . Powering it on shows preparing automatic repair then a small box showing windows defender offline then it starts all over. I downloaded a w10 install usb stick but none of the recovery options do not work so I would have to do the reinstall (reset?) meaning that I would loose all the programs and settings. I would like to avoid all of that reinstalling if possible. What can I try next ? - Thanks

And for what it's worth, and although I haven't yet purchased it, Mini Tool is as good as Macrium Reflect for some of these things.

Macrium's Rescue disk has a bootup repair feature. But the most hopeful thing I see for the OP is the matter of the "No-Execute Memory Protect" item in BIOS. I generally spend at least a day getting familiar with a new BIOS, and one day doesn't seem enough. Sometimes, I just "make decisions." Lucky me that I had enabled that feature when passing through the rockiest part of my own install and configuration.

I'll be interested in hearing whether it was the BIOS feature, or that changing it solved the problem.

NEXT TIME! If you have to do a complete reinstall -- which I would avoid until it becomes a last resort -- at least get Macrium Reflect Free version and image a working boot-disk. It will perfectly image a dual-boot system on a single drive, and you can resize partition by restoring from it. I can only say that it saved my ass last week. I borked my Windows 10 installation -- won't explain the details. But I had made a full image followed by a differential image update exactly two days before the disaster. I didn't even bother with fiddling with a single OS in the dual-boot configuration: I just restored the entire drive. Didn't take that long, and I was "back in bidnis. Definitely."
