I think beta2 started around 2475 or so.

RC1 isn't out yet, it's about 2 weeks away.
 
No, after RC2 they concentrate on the last showstopper bugs that they can
find before it is considered shippable. Most beta testers will be stuck with
RC2, but a few will get newer builds to make sure any problems they might
have seen are resolved. When those bugs are fixed, and any cosmetic glitches
have been looked at, then it will be considered "gold" and ready to RTM.
