I have windows xp loaded on my computer and windows 98se running on the kids. I will be doing a major upgrade soon to the kids comp and want to know if I can use my same copy of XP to load on theirs. I thought I had heard of not being able to do this because of registering issues.
Thanks

Bob

Don't you just love User Agreements? :)

If you wish to use an operating system which it isn't illegal to install the same copy on a multiple amount of computers, I would recommend either Linux or Unix.

Be careful advocating Unix as a "Free-er" alternative for Windows, you'd often be wrong. ;)

Argh...let me rephrase, BSD.

In theory though, you can't go more free then with BSD

I am really trying to keep this as budget as possible. Should I just keep the 98se on there for them? They mainly use it for internet browsing, msn IM and playing the Sims.

That is the cheapest legal solution.

As mentioned keeping win98 is the cheapest legal sollution. WinXP Home OEM (necessary to purchase a piece of hardware with it) would be a cheap solution too.
