I recently purchased a new computer that came with XP pre-installed.
Interestingly, the system cannot resume from the second stand-by on a single session, in other
words, when i open the computer i can put it to stand-by and then resume for
once, but when i put it into stand-by mode for a second time it never
resumes (the monitor stays blank and etc.). I don't experience the same
problem with hibernation.

My configruation is as follows:

AMD Athlon 1.4 Ghz
Shuttle Spacewalker AK31
256 MB RAM
40 GB samsung HDD
19" Elements Cyclone monitor
etc. etc.

Thanks in advance for all help,

Update on problem:

i thought maybe updating the BIOS could solve the problem. I looked on the initial screen and saw that the BIOS date of my Shuttle Spacewalker AK31 motherboard is 21 june, which pointed out that my BIOS version is 207.bin (according to spacewalker's ftp site)

then i went on to download the newest BIOS files (ak31s20f.bin dated november something). i restarted in safe mode with command prompt and attempted to flash the BIOS but the awdflash.exe warned me that the "program file's parts info does not match with system" (or something similar to that) and then asked me if I wanted to proceed and still flash the BIOS!

Being the ever cautious man I am, I decided to put that off. But i don't understand why the flasher program wouldn't let me flash my BIOS with a newer version?

any thoughts on this?

Regards,
