Whenever I try to open an application in DOS I come up with this error:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
|16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is no suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft application. Choose 'Close' to terminate
the application.

It's quite odd because I havn't encounted this error on any other Windows XP system and/or MS-DOS. I'm Currently Running Windows XP Corprate SP1. Perhaps if anyone has some knowledge of this i'd assume I have to edit AUTOEXEC*.NT ?

I fix computers here at school, and I actually saw this same error today. The fix that worked for me is detailed at this site:

http://support.microsoft.com/d...x?scid=kb;en-us;324767

Pretty much, just insert your WinXP cd, and then type in:
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\config.nt_ c:\windows\system32\config.nt
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\command.co_ c:\windows\system32\command.com

be sure to set the autoexec.nt to a system file, or else it will disappear upon restart.

Edit: Nevermind, that didn't work for me. I'll have to try in safe mode.
