Windows XP won't display graphic files correctly

This problem randomly started about a month ago, I've been trying tons of fixes but can't get anything to work. Basically, I used to have it set up so when I view my folders (in list mode), the small icon of all the graphic files is the Firefox logo. That still works, all my images (JPEG/JPGs, GIFs, PNGs, etc) are set to open in Firefox. When I'd select an image and highlight it in Windows Explorer, a small thumbnail would show up on the left side of the window, under Details. This no longer happens. When I switch my folder to Thumbnail view, no images show up as thumbnails.

Video files still work. .AI and .PSD files still work. I have no clue why I can't just view these freakin' thumbnails. I do a lot of photography work and rely on them to pick what photos I should open up into Photoshop and edit.

Has this happened to anybody else? Anyone know how to fix it? I'd really appreciate it.
