Windows XP won't detect my DVD-RW

Hi all,

Every now and then, Windows XP will prompt me at startup to install drivers for
OPTNRHTD DVD RV DD0203 (my DVD drive). The hardware wizard pops up and
never detects any relevant drivers... I have to shut down and reboot and usually
Windows XP will detect the drive just fine the next time. What would cause it to
ask for drivers every now and then?
