windows xp with new motherboard

Im upgrading my comp with a new MB,ram video card and processor and was wondering if i would have to reinstall windows? I have a pirate copy of xp that the computer guy up the street installed after my mom thought it was broke. He installed pro and a new motherboard processor and ram but i have a license for home we got back when we got this computer in 02 on the sticker thing on my. the recovery cd's from compaq dont work on non compaq Motherboards so i cant use those. Could i get a pirate copy of windows home off like bittorrent and burn it to a cd and put my code in or what? could i just like make a backup of windows now somehow idk wat to do?
