Windows XP will not shut down or restart.

Has anyone a clue to why my PC will now not shutdown or restart? I haven't adjusted any settings recently.

thanks

Sometimes there are programs in the background that don't shut down properly with windows.
Close all of the background programs and then try shutting down.

I have had that happen once or twice. Give the XP computer time to shut down correctly. If it does not and all you see is a black screen with a white cursor simply turn off your computer. Next time you run XP Pro it will shutdown correctly.

The SP1 downgrade for XP should fix many of those tiny problems.
