Honestly, aside from the look and feel of it, I cant think of one thing I like better about OSX. Its maximizing is all screwed up, theres no taskbar, programs dont close when you close them, a half assed system tray...I could go on and on.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner..... I too like the "look" of OSX vs XP but the actual usefulness of the OSX is severly lacking to winXP. On laptops its fince because you dont want to do much other than the very basics (email, surf, word processing) and Mac does a very good job with that but once it comes time to customizing things sh!t hits the fan.

OSX

I recently sold my laptop, after years of using Windows and Linux OS's, and bought an Ibook. I couldn't be happier. It's just as stable as Windows XP. Every device I have works, including an inkjet and laser printer, IPOD, and digicam. I don't have any driver problems. I got MS Office X for compatibility, and the rest of the software I use was built in. IPhoto, Itunes, Imovie, Calendar, and Address book are all superior to any built in Windows XP software. Mail = Outlook Express. Netscape runs really fast on the Ibook, but I can also use IE and Safari. Software Compatibility actually works on Mac OS X (I can run any program from the old mac os's). Windows XP software compatibility never worked for old dos software. Stability so far is a tad better than Windows XP, which I suspect is due to better drivers. Expose is a better screen management schema than on any other OS I have ever used. The built-in Airport wireless is on par with Lucent/Orinoco, and certianly better than the Intel wireless crap I had on my old Sharp Actius. I really cannot think of a reason to go back to a Windows box at this point, not that I have anything against Windows OS. I use XP all the time at school.

The only thing I don't like is Window maximize and minimize, which I think could have been done a little better.

No taskbar? What does the dock do, then?

thats not a real taskbar

i'm too accustomed to winxp/2k

macosx looks pretty nice and a lot of things in it are pretty intuitive.

i'd choose winxp however....using/troubleshootings macs is kinda wierd...i donno..it seems like there's a lack of options and preferences available compared to windows

I use both 5 days a week. I use 10.3.3 at work and WinXP at home.

WinXP hands down. Granted, MacOS 10.x is heads and tails above OS 9. But I'll still take XP over OS X.

It does all the same stuff! What does it do that the task bar doesn't? Quick launch? Check. Open Apps? Check. Draw attention to a particular app that needs input? Check.

Only thing it doesn't have is an "Address:" toolbar but I think I'm the only one in the world that uses that in 2K/XP anyway!

What is the dock lacking that the task bar has?

As a user of both, and a hardcore pc user since I built my first AMD 200mhz computer, I have to say OSX...
For those of you who bash it, so did I, but I recommend you try it. I worked for Dell for a little while and had a fully loaded 600m, and I would take my powerbook with 10.3.3 anyday over the 600 with xp pro. I am on my second powerbook (1.33ghz g4 12") and I really like it.
HOWERVER, I have not abandoned my pc. I still have an overclocked 2.66 at 3.2 with a Radeon 9800pro, gb ram, raptor hd and all the trimmings that I would not leave for OSX either. Maybe I am just a confused soul, but OSX is a nice os. I have never crashed it, but I almost never crash my pc either. My girlfriend also uses a powerbook, and it is not as stable as mine.
I have no answer for which one is better, I use both and like both. I prefer OSX (Panther) over XP Pro, built will not be leaveing windows anytime soon.
