Windows XP vs. Mac OS X

windows
i really dont like macs even the G5 running panther i just dont like it, i hate useing it at work, i like the P3 1GHz running Win ME more

I had more problems with OSX at a job I worked for 3 months than I've had using windows XP for 3 years.

I say that in complete seriousness, no exagerrations. I would spend half of my days trying to trouble shoot the damn thing because the mac tech support guy was a lazy moron who spent too much time reading fark.

But it doesn't and it wont anytime soon.

which is why I use Windows XP; can't do visual c++ programming on Mac OS X

Yeah, it would be pretty stupid to develop windows apps on a mac and vice versa.

yes it would. I do work on my laptop so I pretty much need a windows box. I would however get a 15 inch powerbook if the resolution was higher AND it was cheaper (ie around the same price as a dell 600m)

OS X. I have never had any problems of any kind using OS X. Windows XP however, that's another story...
Also, OS X integrates everything so well. I am able to mount NFS shares from my linux server with no problems. My camera works, my mp3 player works cleanly. These things are a pain in windows for me. The interface to all programs is so simple and clean. I cant think of a mail program that I like more than Mail.app just because of it's simplicity.

i work at the computer labs in my school. my main shifts are in the computer graphics lab in one of the art labs. all the computer there are G5s, and hence run OSX. i get fewer problems in this lab than in the PC labs. but don't rejoice, apple fan bois - almost 100% of the questions i get in the graphics lab are a result of an OSX failure or error. the problems in the PC labs are mainly because the users are idiots. i.e. "how do i scan an image" or "how do i send a picture to my friend."

xp. but i wouldn't mind a powerbook/ibook for free.

it would make a nice super breakout machine. oh yeah, and photoshop. 🙂 😉

A windows xp that looked as good as OSX.

Honestly, aside from the look and feel of it, I cant think of one thing I like better about OSX. Its maximizing is all screwed up, theres no taskbar, programs dont close when you close them, a half assed system tray...I could go on and on.
