ok... i'm a little baffled here... and i feel really embarassed for having to ask this (I should know already!)

I'm trying create a VPN connection for one of my users through the windows xp "create new connection" wizard

the problem is that when i select "create a connection to my workplace" , the following screen that lets you pick dialup or vpn, both are greyed out and i cannot select them.....

can someone tell me what i need to do to enable vpn connections?

thanks 🙂

it's a PPTP vpn

the company that we connect to prefers that we use the vpn software included with windows

I know how vpn's work and how to set one up 😛

just having some problem here.. all of the other pc's were set up fine, but this one has a problem..

this screen is the screen that had the options greyed out (could not select anything)

thanks! 🙂

I never cam acroos such a probelm.

I spent some time looking around for info about it and could not find any thing.

FWIW, if it is be my system, I would refresh the Windows Installation.

:sun:

First make sure you are logged in admin....

if so, try going to Services and check to see if Remote Access Connection Manager is started...if its on auto and not started, try enabling Telephony than restart Remote Access Connection Manager service

I think that should work...I had the same problem before and this cleared it out.

Hope it helps ^^

thanks guys i really appreciate it... i'll try all of your suggestions out when i go in tomorrow 🙂 (hates going in saturday)

GL...it may be easier to give phone support...these are simple instructions for end users to follow over the phone...im pretty sure the remote access connection manager is the key...i disabled it on my services right now and couldn't make a dialup/vpn connection. 🙂
