I need to get a remote user running Windows XP on a cable modem to be able to connect to the VPN provided by a Netgear FVS318 ProSafe VPN Firewall running at a small office LAN with DSL Internet access. Does XP have the built-in ability to connect to the VPN? I know Windows 2000/XP lets you setup VPN connections under Network and Dial-up Connections. Will that be able to connect to the VPN tunnel on the Netgear router? The Netgear manual for the FVS318 recommends some 3rd party VPN software called SageNet SoftRemote Secure VPN Client for Windows. It also says that the VPN client program you use must support IPSec. Doesn't XP built-in VPN ability only support PPTP? Thanks for any info you can give me.
