Windows XP VM hosed?

I tried to shut it down, in windows and it just hangs. I try to send it alt-cntrl-del, nothing. I try shutdown, restart, etc from the menu, and the script fails.

Is my VM hosed? I can run some programs in the VM, but most exes will fail because it's trying to shutdown, apparently.

Any ideas? Do I have to reinstall windows/kill the VM and start over? I have no "rollback" spots because I didn't realize VMs were this volatile and I don't have any important data on the VM anyway.

Thanks.

Edit: Now I think the WinXP is hosed; I had to end task on an explorer folder, so now I don't even have a start menu. Not that shutting down or logging out was working anyway.

That's a "hidden" feature in VMWare.

It's also complicated by using a Hackintosh, since I use a Dinovo Keyboard and the windows keys are sometimes confusingly mapped to apple keys (like option and command).

So I did this:

Another way to solve this is to open the Virtual Machine menu, then hold down the Option key to change "Shut Down Guest" to "Power Off".

If you select "Power Off", that's like pulling the plug from the power of the virtual machine, and it'll shut right off.

And while I don't know if it mattered, I also disabled keymapping profiles, and it worked.

Thanks!

Although my actual WinXP crashed a bunch, I had to manually delete some lock files in terminal to get the VM to boot, and now it thinks there's another VM running. So it'll run, but networking isn't working, and it's reaaally slow. Hmmmmm.....

I tried out Fusion 2 and had a couple bugs like this. I'm still on 1.1.1 or 1.1.3 or whatever.

I rebooted the system, and I think everything is working okay now.
