Windows XP Virtual Memory settings?

On XP 32 bit, I make sure my physical RAM + virtual memory = 4096 megabytes (the max memory a 32 bit OS can address)... If you have 2 gigs of RAM, set the custom size min + max to = 2048.

But when I choose system managed size it only allocates 2047MB. Is this okay or should I manually set the custom size? If the custom size is more appropriate what should I put for initial and max size respectively?

Just leave it, with 2G of physical memory you'll barely be using the pagefile anyway. It is kind of odd that Windows doesn't set the size to their own recommendation when you tell it to manage it for you, but who knows what those developers were thinking.

On XP 32 bit, I make sure my physical RAM + virtual memory = 4096 megabytes (the max memory a 32 bit OS can address).

That makes absolutely zero sense, the amount of per-process virtual memory isn't affected at all by the amount of physical memory or pagefile space, despite the fact that Windows incorrectly labels the pagefile setting dialog with the term "Virtual Memory". And what would you if you have a 32-bit Windows Server machine with 8G of memory?
