Windows XP user account issues

Hello guys,
Hoping someone can help me out with an issue I am having.

In windows XP, when I first got my laptop, my administrator account name was
"John". I recently changed the name on the account.

Now for the problem. I installed GIMP on my laptop but ran into issues because GIMP was trying to access a folder in my c:\documents and settings\john\gimp2.6

My guess is, because the folder is labeled "john", I can't open it. It says "access denied"

Shouldn't this folder be named according to the new name on the user account? I only have one user account (administrator).

I read somwhere that if you right click on the folder and go to properties then security tab, you can change permissions. But this option is not available.

Is there something else I nede to change when I change the name on the account? When I installed GIMP, shouldn't the name of the folder mentioned above read as follows:
c:\documents and settings\<new account name>\gimp2.6

The folder name doesn't change when the account name changes, though. If you look in C:\Documents and Settings, it should still have its former folder name.

But how come when I reinstall, folders get installed in the same old directory which I don't have full access to? very strange.

I am due for a fresh reinstall of windows, might do that this weekend.

Thanks for the help mechBgon.
