Windows XP update won't update.

Well, I have a legit XP (came with this Dell Dimension 8200 laptop) and I cannot update to a newer Windows Update. Windows Update tells me I need a newer version to get newer updates, but every time it tries to download, it will fail. Anyone?

That's the suck.

Find the "windows update catalog". It's there in windows update somewhere, might have to change your preferences (all on the same website as windows update). Once you can get to the update catalog you can manually pick your updates. You might have better luck downloading this way.

hehe... maybe you got the laptop that was used in the photoshoot that dell did where the XP corp key leaked from

Where I used to work, I had this problem. It was a networking issue with Savvis.

I could take my laptop home and it would update fine. Try taking yours to another location.
