Windows XP update failure

I have been trying to update my Windows XP at the MS site. When I get to the looking for updates 0 % I get a error on page with a exclamation mark message on the left side of the line just above the taskbar. What the heck do I do to fix it? I tried refreshing but it just stops at the same place.
 
Can you try the repair option with the WinXP CD? If that doesn't work, I think it'd take shorter time for you to just clean install XP (quick NTFS format).
