Is there a way to move from XP to ME without having to reinstall all applications? XP doesn't support my mp3 player (Rio500) nor my Ditto Tecmar tape backup drive, and it's driving me instane!

There is no way to go to WinME from XP unless you originally upgraded to XP from ME, and selected the option to let you revert back to ME when you upgraded.

If you have the time, I suggest do a dual boot setup. Even though win2k/XP are more stable, they are still miles far from the compatibility of 98/Me....

just...don't. ME is the worst piece of software I have ever has the displeasure of interacting with, with Windows XP coming in a close second. What I usually do if I need to reformat is I back up all of my configuration files for my programs, and I keep all of the downloaded installation files for all my programs on a separate partition so that I can easily reinstall if need be. That way I don't have to spend days downloading all the files all over again. Then just do a clean install of Win2k and reinstall all the programs, and reload the config files and/or save games and such.
