Howdy,

Anyone know of any nice documentation on the differences between Win XP and Win 7? We're getting ready to start rolling out Win 7 at our office and want to have things we can give out to people to be prepared.

I know for Office 2k3 to 2k7 Microsoft had some nice things about Here's where it was, Here's where it is now, and things like that.

If anyone knows of anything like that, let me know.

I'm searching around but haven't found anything great so far.

The Windows XP to Windows 7 Migration Guide at the Springboard site on TechNet is a great resource to assist with Windows 7 deployment in a Windows XP environment.
For further information regarding the features and benefits of Windows 7, look to the Springboard Site on TechNet page Discover and Explore Windows 7 technical guidance overviews which are great explanations of new features.
Another great place to find information on the Windows 7 features and benefits is the Microsoft product page and features. Lastly there is the Windows vs. Windows comparison available here with a direct Windows XP to Windows 7 comparison.

I would use the Windows Migration tool to backup all your files and settings (in addition to backing them up normally. And image your main OS drive.) You will still need to reinstall programs, but this migration tool does make it less painful for many people. Start making a list of the programs you want to reinstall. I really like a little utility called Mozbackup for saving all my Mozilla Firefox internet settings.

I had no idea what I was doing and the switch was painless. I didnt like losing access to a buttload of my favorite programs, but I also replaced most of them easily.
I dont care much for the fru-fru interface but that is also correctable.

Hi

As I understand the OP main concern is.

We're getting ready to start rolling out Win 7 at our office and want to have things we can give out to people to be prepared.

Best way is to put two computers and screens one next to other.

One with a current XP, and one with Win 7 has it planned to be implemented in your place.

Then functionally show to groups of office worker how to do the main thing that are specific to your office.

No point to find documents that will confuse the worker with many features that they are Not using.
