Hi, I was working on a Dell laptop with XP on it that had a issue where the time would lose sync by about a half hour, give or take, after I would reboot it. I would just restart it. There's also no CMOS checksum errors on post. It was plugged in and had a battery in it. Now i've dealt with time sync issues before, usually with a CMOS battery the time loss is all over the place from what I have experienced and after the machine has been turned off for a while.
As for software, usually with a time zone issue you're back or ahead a certain number of hours, not half hours. The time was synchronizing with time.windows.com and I set the correct time zone and date. I tested it manually and it would sync and display the correct time. There was some malware on the system that I cleaned up and it was running fine otherwise. If it were a desktop I probably would have switched the CMOS battery out already to eliminate that. With a laptop there's more work involved and I was out of time so that might be part II.
Any suggestions as to what may be the issue?
